FAQ

7. What is the difference between sales packaging and transport packaging?

Sales packaging is packaging offered in sales units and accrues at the private end-users premises, i.e. in private households and at comparable places where packaging arises. However, sales packaging also includes packaging units of retailers, catering and other services that make possible the delivery of merchandise to private end-users. These packaging units are called service packaging units. These include, for example, plastic carrier bags, paper carrier bags, disposable dishes and disposable cutlery.

Transport packaging facilitates the transport of merchandise and protects it from getting damaged. As a rule, transport packaging arises at distributors or in the retail trade – and not at private end-users. Transport packaging includes pallets, shrink wrapping film and cartons that contain several sales units.
