elementor-size-default\">What is the German Batteries Act (BattG)?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc5d2d0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fc5d2d0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The German Batteries Act (Batteriegesetz, BattG) transposes the European Batteries Directive of 2006 on the marketing, return and sustainable disposal of batteries and accumulators into German law. Each EU country has its own batteries legislation, and the BattG is the German law that replaced the previous Battery Regulation (Batterieverordnung, BattV) in 2009. It was extensively revised in 2021.  <\/p>\n<p>The main change is the introduction of an obligation for manufacturers and retailers to register: Since 1 January 2021, anyone wishing to place batteries on the German market must register with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stiftung-ear.de\/de\/themen\/battg\/hersteller-bv\/anwendungsbereich\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stiftung elektro-altger\u00e4te register (stiftung ear)<\/a>. This includes non-rechargeable (primary) batteries, rechargeable (secondary) batteries (or accumulators), irrespective of whether or not they are device-integrated \u2013 unless an exemption applies.
