The Cen\u00adtral Pack\u00ada\u00adging Regis\u00adter Office has published the new edi\u00adti\u00adon of the Mini\u00admum Stan\u00addard 2023 as of Sep\u00adtem\u00adber 1, 2023. The publi\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon hap\u00adpens in agree\u00adment with the Fede\u00adral Envi\u00adron\u00adment Agen\u00adcy. Cate\u00adgo\u00adries for eva\u00adlua\u00adting recy\u00adcla\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty remain unch\u00adan\u00adged.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The aim of the Pack\u00ada\u00adging Act is to pro\u00admo\u00adte high-qua\u00adli\u00adty recy\u00adcling in order to con\u00adser\u00adve resour\u00adces and redu\u00adce the impact of pack\u00ada\u00adging was\u00adte on the envi\u00adron\u00adment. This can only suc\u00adceed if com\u00adpa\u00adnies design their pack\u00ada\u00adging in a way that is sui\u00adta\u00adble for recy\u00adcling and if this pack\u00ada\u00adging is actual\u00adly recy\u00adcled. Just as com\u00adpa\u00adnies design their pack\u00ada\u00adging with their pro\u00adper\u00adties in mind, plant tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies, pro\u00adcess tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies and their capa\u00adci\u00adties must also be adapt\u00aded to the respec\u00adti\u00adve mate\u00adri\u00adal requi\u00adre\u00adments. For this reason, the Pack\u00ada\u00adging Act sti\u00adpu\u00adla\u00adtes that pack\u00ada\u00adging may only be clas\u00adsi\u00adfied as recy\u00adclable if a func\u00adtio\u00adning recy\u00adcling infra\u00adstruc\u00adtu\u00adre is in place.<\/p>\n

As part of a stu\u00addy by the Fede\u00adral Envi\u00adron\u00adment Agen\u00adcy, the spe\u00adci\u00adfic sort\u00ading and recy\u00adcling capa\u00adci\u00adties for the dif\u00adfe\u00adrent types of pack\u00ada\u00adging are deter\u00admi\u00adned sci\u00aden\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adcal\u00adly each year. The results are incor\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adted into the fur\u00adther deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of the mini\u00admum stan\u00addard. In par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar, quan\u00adti\u00adta\u00adti\u00adve state\u00adments are made on the avai\u00adla\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty of exis\u00adting sort\u00ading and recy\u00adcling struc\u00adtures, dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adtia\u00adted by pack\u00ada\u00adging type. On this basis, the mini\u00admum stan\u00addard alre\u00ada\u00addy regu\u00adla\u00adtes the cases in which indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal pro\u00adof of actu\u00adal recy\u00adcling is requi\u00adred. If capa\u00adci\u00adties are pro\u00adven for more than 80 per\u00adcent of the mate\u00adri\u00adal flow, it is assu\u00admed that a suf\u00adfi\u00adci\u00adent recy\u00adcling infra\u00adstruc\u00adtu\u00adre is available. If sort\u00ading and recy\u00adcling capa\u00adci\u00adties cover less than 20 per\u00adcent of the mate\u00adri\u00adal flow, com\u00adpa\u00adnies alre\u00ada\u00addy have to pro\u00advi\u00adde ite\u00admi\u00adzed pro\u00adof of recy\u00adcling. If the\u00adre are limi\u00adt\u00aded recy\u00adcling capa\u00adci\u00adties bet\u00adween 20 and 80 per\u00adcent, such an ite\u00admi\u00adzed state\u00adment can alre\u00ada\u00addy be requi\u00adred sin\u00adce 2019.<\/p>\n

Recy\u00adcling infra\u00adstruc\u00adtu\u00adre remains unch\u00adan\u00adged in the 2023 mini\u00admum stan\u00addard<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In order to sim\u00adpli\u00adfy the appli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon and inter\u00adpre\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon of the mini\u00admum stan\u00addard and pro\u00admo\u00adte high-qua\u00adli\u00adty recy\u00adcling, the\u00adre was the fol\u00adlo\u00adwing pro\u00adpo\u00adsed solu\u00adti\u00adon in the con\u00adsul\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon pro\u00adcess: Eli\u00admi\u00adna\u00adte the wide ran\u00adge bet\u00adween 20 and 80 per\u00adcent for which the\u00adre was no real regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon.<\/p>\n

The 2023 mini\u00admum stan\u00addard does not initi\u00adal\u00adly include this pro\u00adpo\u00adsal. Howe\u00adver, the topic remains in focus, espe\u00adci\u00adal\u00adly with regard to the plan\u00adned Euro\u00adpean Pack\u00ada\u00adging Regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon. Thus, it is to be expec\u00adted that pack\u00ada\u00adging will always have to be reusable or recy\u00adclable in the future; even if con\u00adcre\u00adte requi\u00adre\u00adments and limit values of the expec\u00adted Euro\u00adpean regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons have not yet been con\u00adclu\u00adsi\u00adve\u00adly defi\u00adned. Pre\u00adpa\u00adring for this ear\u00adly and in a struc\u00adtu\u00adred man\u00adner is an oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty and ensu\u00adres the mar\u00adke\u00adta\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty of the pack\u00ada\u00adging solu\u00adti\u00adon.<\/p>\n

Chan\u00adges in the 2023 mini\u00admum stan\u00addard: Recy\u00adcling of glass and prin\u00adting inks<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In this year\u2019s mini\u00admum stan\u00addard, the ZSVR<\/a> has defi\u00adned a limit value for the light trans\u00admis\u00adsi\u00adon (trans\u00adlucen\u00adcy) of glass. This deter\u00admi\u00adnes whe\u00adther pack\u00ada\u00adging made of glass is recy\u00adclable. If a glass packa\u00adge is not trans\u00adlu\u00adcent, it is sor\u00adted out in the plants as a con\u00adta\u00admi\u00adnant becau\u00adse it is not recy\u00adclable. This is the case, for exam\u00adp\u00adle, with pain\u00adted bot\u00adt\u00adles.<\/p>\n

Nit\u00adro\u00adcel\u00adlu\u00adlo\u00adse (NC)-based prin\u00adting inks are now clas\u00adsi\u00adfied as non-recy\u00adclable in inter\u00adme\u00addia\u00adte prin\u00adting. NC impairs the mecha\u00adni\u00adcal recy\u00adcling pro\u00adcess due to a limi\u00adt\u00aded tem\u00adpe\u00adra\u00adtu\u00adre resis\u00adtance and redu\u00adces the qua\u00adli\u00adty of recy\u00adcla\u00adtes.<\/p>\n
