Who is a manufacturer according to the PPWR?
Businesses that produce or have packaging produced under their name or brand and are the first to place it in the EU market are considered manufacturers under the PPWR.
What packaging requires a Declaration of Conformity?
Each packaging unit requires its own Declaration of Conformity.
When does the Declaration of Conformity requirement under the PPWR come into effect?
The PPWR, along with the Declaration of Conformity requirement, comes into effect on 12 August 2026 in all EU member states.
How long must Declarations of Conformity be stored?
You must be able to provide authorities with Declarations of Conformity upon request for
- 5 years for single-use packaging
- 10 years for reusable packaging
